Jammu, Dec 09 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir has received over Rs 1,068.36 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the ongoing financial year 2025–26.
Official documents tabled in the Lok Sabha according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reveal that the Ministry of Rural Development, fund releases to J&K have shown notable variations over the past years, with the UT receiving Rs 1,151.20 crore in 2024–25, Rs 921.60 crore in 2023–24, Rs 1,051.00 crore in 2022–23, and Rs 950.14 crore in 2021–22.
The data further shows that J&K has generated 242.03 lakh person-days under MGNREGS in 2025–26 so far as on 04 December.
It also said that the UT had generated 409.38 lakh person-days in 2024–25, 374.73 lakh in 2023–24 and 308.67 lakh in 2022–23.
As per the records, the Union Territory currently has 10.08 lakh active job cards under the scheme.
The Ministry also reported pending liabilities amounting to Rs 6.10 crore in wage dues and Rs 192.00 crore in material liabilities for J&K as of December-2025—KNO)
